Pain Injection Therapies

Precise, Targeted Relief

Pain doesn’t always come from one place, and it doesn’t always respond to one treatment. Our pain injection therapies bring together four complementary approaches — ultrasound-guided therapy, extracorporeal shockwave therapy, trigger point injections, and nerve blocks — so Dr. Chabla can target the exact source of your pain.

Ultrasound-Guided Therapy

Musculoskeletal ultrasound allows Dr. Chabla to visualize soft tissue structures — tendons, nerves, bursae, joint spaces — in real time during a procedure. This live imaging improves the accuracy of injections, reducing risk and improving outcomes. Ultrasound guidance is used across many of the treatments on this page, including PRP injections, nerve blocks, and trigger point injections.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)

ESWT uses focused acoustic waves to stimulate healing in chronically injured tendons and soft tissue. Non-invasive, fast, and effective for conditions like plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, and lateral epicondylitis. Sessions typically last 15–30 minutes and are performed in-office, with a course of 3–5 weekly sessions standard. No anesthesia or recovery time is required.

Trigger Point Injections

Trigger points are hyperirritable knots within muscle fibers that cause widespread, often referred pain. Trigger point injections target these spots directly — a small needle delivers a local anesthetic (and in some cases saline or a corticosteroid) to release the muscle and interrupt the pain-tension cycle. Most patients notice improvement within 24–72 hours.

Nerve Blocks

A nerve block is a precise injection that interrupts pain signal transmission along a specific nerve pathway, used both to diagnose the source of pain and to deliver meaningful relief. Using ultrasound guidance, Dr. Chabla delivers an anesthetic — and in some cases an anti-inflammatory medication — directly to the targeted nerve.

What to Expect

Most procedures in this category are performed in 15–30 minutes in-office, and most patients return home the same day. Dr. Chabla will determine which combination of these therapies is right for you based on your imaging, history, and treatment goals.
